Only 2 of my daughter’s classmates came to her birthday party — and I panicked

It’s her daughter’s birthday and she’ll invite whomever she wants to.

Sadie Christgau, a mom on TikTok, is going viral for “panicking” ahead of her daughter’s 5th birthday party after only two of the 25 youngster’s classmates declared they were coming.

“I invited her whole entire class. Two RSVPd,” Christgau somberly stated in the video posted last month.

“It’s in two hours.”

“I started panicking and I started inviting all my Facebook friends with kids, and I said, ‘Just show up — we have enough stuff for, like, 25 kids,” she added.

“I don’t know what to do.”

In the caption, Christgau asked: “Has anyone else had this happen to their kid?”

The TikTok has over 3.1 million views — and more than 11,000 comments, including a few who mom-shamed Christgau for expecting a larger turnout.

“It’s expensive to go to birthdays these days,” more than one person claimed.

“Teach her about quality over quantity. Then make the day as special as you can,” one suggested.

Many parents in the comments suggested that birthday parties may be a thing of the past.

“I never prioritize inviting school friends. If you don’t know those parents well, they’re probably not coming to your party,” another popular response read.

Another user recommended that Christgau look at the situation from another perspective.

“I tell my kids that we will invite their classmates but if they dont come its not because they dont like you. some parents are not comfortable going.”

Christgau reacted to the criticism in a follow-up video in which she reasoned: “I thought inviting the whole class would be easier than asking her to pick a few friends, and I didn’t want to leave anyone out.”

She claimed that her Facebook friends and their kids pulled through, and even though they all might not have known each other, “they came and they all had so much fun together,” Christgau explained.

Meanwhile, hundreds of viewers asked how they could help make the 5-year-old’s birthday special, so Christgau set up an Amazon Wishlist for interested parties’ contributions.

The Post has contacted Christgau for comment.
