Wake your groove thing — yeah, yeah!
The family and friends of a fun-loving man from El Salvador have hit headlines after holding his wake inside a nightclub.
Darwin Bernal reportedly requested the unique sendoff prior to his passing earlier this month — and his loved ones were more than happy to honor the wish.
“Before he died, he told us he wanted his funeral in a discotheque, and that’s exactly what happened,” daughter Katerin Mercedes Bernal told Storyful.
“He loved to party and loved to dance.”
The wake was held inside El Pacifico Night Bar in the city of La Union on Nov. 5, with a video of the quirky vigil going viral online.
Bernal’s family decided to have his open casket take center stage on the dance floor, with mourners seen shimmying around the coffin as a Latin track blared from the speakers.
The nightclub’s flashing blue and purple lights also added to the party-like atmosphere.
Social media pundits praised the family for honoring the party-loving patriarch in the way he wanted.
“What a beautiful family, they granted his last wish,” one cheered.
“His wish… How good it was fulfilled,” another X user commented, appearing to have their heart warmed by the family’s celebratory send-off.
However, Bernal’s vigil isn’t the only unusual farewell to make news this week.
On Tuesday, The Post reported on New Jersey model Erica L. Carrington, who turned a funeral into a fashion show when she strutted on a makeshift runway at an open-casked viewing for late designer Vernest Moore.
“I think we sent Vernest off the way that he would have liked, and that’s really all that matters,” Carrington declared after some criticized the model’s fashion-forward farewell.
