Peyton Manning may have spoken for just about every Jets fan on Monday night.
As Gang Green supporters tried to comprehend the thought of Aaron Rodgers getting injured five plays into his first drive as a Jet, the “Monday Night Football” broadcast captured Rodgers getting onto a cart after exiting the medical tent.
Manning was reacting live during ESPN’s “Manningcast” in absolute disbelief.
“Holy… cow,” a shocked Manning exclaimed with a look on his face that Jets fans could relate to.
“I cannot believe this,” Manning added sitting back in his seat and putting his hands on his head.
The Hall-of-Fame quarterback sat there in silence for another moment before he continued to react.
“I thought it was just an ankle. I thought we’d go tape it up and get him back in there. Come on!” he continued.
The former Colts and Broncos QB wasn’t the only media figure to react in utter disbelief at the turn of events.
Former WFAN midday host and noted Jets fan Joe Benigno couldn’t help but chime in on X, formerly Twitter.
“The Pain is real bro, you can’t make this up!!” he wrote on the social media platform.
Rodgers injured his ankle on the Jets fifth offensive play of the night after he was sacked by Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd.
He got up slow initially and then sat back down on the field in pain,
The Jets QB had to be helped off the field and went to the medical tent before eventually being carted off to the locker room, where he underwent an X-ray.
The future Hall-of-Famer was ruled out for the rest of the game by the Jets.
“He’s dealing with an ankle right now, he’s getting checked out,” Jets head coach Robert Saleh told ESPN’s Lisa Salter on the live broadcast. “We’ll know more later. We still have a hell of a group of guys… we’ll get this thing done.”
