John Oliver took another swipe at all the changes happening at Warner Bros. Discovery, this time addressing the show pulled from HBO Max.
last week tonight The host considered the possibility of Congressman Don Young taking over after Sarah Palin’s death. Oliver poked fun at the streaming platform, referring to a publisher quoted in The New Yorker as saying that “Sarah knows how to work the crowd… but it’s Sarah, Inc..” ,
Oliver took the name “Sarah, Inc.” and added that it “titles a sitcom starring Kat Dennings that has already quietly disappeared from HBO Max.”
The comedian then added, “HBO Max, it’s a series of tax write-offs to please Wall Street.”
HBO Max is making several changes as they work to combine the aforementioned streaming service’s catalog with Discovery+. This week, streamer pulled titles like Elance Next Great Designer, Not-To-Late Show with Elmo And my mother, your father, 12 dates of christmas, close enough, genera+ionAnd generation bustle,
“As we work towards bringing our content catalog under one platform, we will be transitioning to the content offerings available on both HBO Max and Discovery+. This will include the removal of certain content from both the platforms,” the company said in a statement. “At the same time, we’re already starting to bring our content catalog together with features such as the launch of the new CNN Original Hub on Discovery+ and a curated collection of Magnolia Network content coming soon to HBO Max.”
Earlier on the late night show, Oliver even took a dig at the HBO Max original And Just Like Thatfollow-up series sex and the City,
“Sarah f****ing Palin is back and it’s like 2008 again,” Oliver quipped. “She’s running for office, America entered a bear market, and sex and the City The spinoff is making that it clearly doesn’t have material to back it up.”
And Just Like That was renewed for a second season by HBO Max and it was recently confirmed that John Corbett would reprise his role of Aidan.
