Matthew McConaughey: ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff ‘sounds like a vacation’

Alright, alright, alright.

Matthew McConaughey is returning to acting after a three-year hiatus to star in a spinoff to the hit series “Yellowstone” — and the actor is looking forward to it.

“To go have some structure like, ‘I got a call time, I’ve got lines, I’ve got scenes, I’ve got a character.’ The sounds like a vacation right now to me,” McConaughey, 53, said in a recent podcast interview on “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard.”

“The last few years I had a really wonderful time getting rid of a lot of those filters that come with acting.”

His last role was in Guy Ritchie’s 2019 movie “The Gentlemen,” co-starring Hugh Grant, Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farrell, and Jeremy Strong. Since then, he’s been a voice actor on a few series, such as “Agent Elvis” on Netflix, but he focused on releasing his 2020 memoir, “Greenlights.”

But, he’ll return to the screen in the “Yellowstone” spinoff.

There’s been drama with the family ranch saga, as Kevin Costner, 68, and creator Taylor Sheridan, 52, have allegedly been feuding behind the scenes, with rumors swirling that Costner might not return to the show.

It’s got a slew of spinoffs, however, including “1923,” starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

Although McConaughey didn’t share a title of his show or a description of his role in the “Yellowstone” universe, he said, “I am now becoming more interested in actually going to play another character in a movie or a TV show because all of the last four years of culminating and writing and getting these things together and getting more into some public service. The idea of going to act in the right role or the right movie, film, or series right now, I’ll be a different or improved actor in my own right after these last three years.”

It’s been reported that “Yellowstone” might end sooner than expected, because of the turmoil behind the scenes with Costner. If that happened, it’s been rumored that remaining cast members such as Wes Bentley and Kelly Reilly could be on the same show as McConaughey.

But a Paramount spokesperson told The Post, “We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of ‘Yellowstone’ and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come.”
