Mom finds ‘infested, disgusting’ bandaid covered in black mold inside toddler’s yogurt

Imagine the horror: you’re about to serve a snack to your toddler, only to discover something unthinkable within.

This was the reality for one Australian mom, who recently found a used band-aid in a tub of chocolate yogurt.

The unsuspecting woman says she was just “moments away” from serving her one-year-old the seemingly harmless dessert, potentially exposing her child to black mold, which was covering the bandaid.

A routine grocery purchase nearly turned into a health catastrophe

Sharing to Facebook, Khristine urged other parents to be cautious when feeding their children pre-packaged snacks.

“Firstly, I’m only sharing this for awareness as this is a ‘kids yogurt’. I am not after compensation,” she begins, before warning, “PLEASE STIR THROUGH FOOD BEFORE EATING.”

The mom then shared photos of the “infested, disgusting, non-hospitality-friendly band-aid” found in the yogurt.

It appears to be covered in black mold and is soggy from being immersed in the snack.

She added, “I’m so relieved my toddler didn’t eat this. 😭 Please, please be careful guys. 🙏

“Purchased at Coles Westmead. Obviously, YoGo Yogurt staff don’t have proper hygiene standards at their workplace. 🤮”

A friend of the mom told 7News , “My friend is outraged and distraught over the incident. It’s revolting.”

What is black mold and why is it dangerous?

According to Healthline, black mold, a type of fungus including species like Stachybotrys chartarum, is notorious for its dark green or black appearance and potential health risks.

Primarily triggering allergic reactions such as stuffy noses or coughing, its impact is worse in people with asthma, mold allergies, or compromised immune systems.

In these cases, even minimal exposure to mold spores can lead to severe respiratory symptoms.
