That logo really tied the field together, dude.
New Mexico State starting quarterback Diego Pavia was caught by a local news outlet with his willie in his hand.
Pavia allegedly urinated on the logo of in-state rival University of New Mexico and flipped the bird toward another Lobos logo at New Mexico’s indoor practice facility, according to video provided to Albuquerque news outlet KOB4.
Pavia appeared to grin as the logo was being micturated upon.
The gesture was particularly savage as Pavia grew up in Albuquerque, before going on to play at New Mexico State in Las Cruces.
“We are aware of the video and notified NMSU Athletic Administration of its existence on Monday morning,” a University of New Mexico spokesperson told the outlet.
A New Mexico State spokesperson did not have much to add, saying, “Any information regarding the potential discipline of a student would be protected under federal privacy laws.”
A junior, Pavia has thrown for 1,073 yards with 10 touchdowns to four interceptions, as New Mexico State has started the season 2-3.
The two schools have had a fractious rivalry that has flared to violence in recent years.
Last year, a brawl between students of the rival universities at the Rio Grande Rivalry football game at New Mexico State precipitated a deadly shooting later in the Fall.
Mike Peake, a player on New Mexico State’s basketball team who was involved in the fight, was “lured” into what he believed would be a sexual meetup on New Mexico’s campus by a 17-year-old girl before three men attacked him.
Peake fired his weapon after he was attacked with a baseball bat, and killed New Mexico freshman Brandon Travis as the other assailants fled.
