Nick Kyrgios’ girlfriend, Costeen Hatzi, is heartbroken after the Australian pro pulled out of this year’s Wimbledon tournament.
Kyrgios announced Sunday on social media that he sustained a torn ligament in his wrist amid his comeback from knee surgery.
Hatzi, an influencer and interior designer, reposted Kyrgios’ message on her Instagram Story with a sad-face emoji and wrote, “Heartbroken.”
The 28-year-old Kyrgios — who lost last year’s men’s singles final to Novak Djokovic — was slated to face Belgian David Goffin on Monday in his first match of the tournament as the No. 30 seed.
Kyrgios had been dealing with a lingering left knee injury and subsequent surgery, which ruled him out of the Australian Open and French Open.
Hatzi had been by Kyrgios’ side throughout his recovery and supported him in Germany during the ATP Stuttgart Open last month, when he fell to Yibing Wu in the first round.
At the time, Hatzi shared that she was proud of Kyrgios in a message on her Instagram Story.
Prior to his withdrawal from Wimbledon, Kyrgios had been training on the Wimbledon practice courts.
He had told reporters that he was set to play before announcing his withdrawal on social media, revealing the new injury.
“I’m really sad to say that I have to withdraw from Wimbledon this year,” Kyrgios wrote. “I tried my hardest to be ready after my surgery and to be able to step on the Wimbledon courts again.
“During my comeback, I experienced some pain in my wrist during the week of Mallorca. As a precaution I had it scanned and it came back showing a torn ligament in my wrist. I tried everything to be able to play and I am disappointed to say that I just didn’t have enough time to manage it before Wimbledon — I’ll be back.”
Kyrgios went public with his romance with Hazti in December 2021, not long after his highly publicized split from Chiara Passari.
