American sprinter Noah Lyles gushed over girlfriend and fellow Olympian Junelle Bromfield on Wednesday following a headline-making run at the 2024 Paris Games.

When discussing his experience at the Olympics on the “Today” show, Lyles — who took home a gold and bronze medal in the 100-meter and 200-meter, respectively — praised Bromfield, who also competed in France but did not medal, as a “fighter” and “survivor.”

“She’s been running since she was 8 years old, making teams for Jamaica,” Lyles said of Bromfield, who was also in the show’s New York studio.

“She’s very talented in her own right, she ran at the Olympics this year in the open 400-meter, and I’m so proud of her, of course, she’s a survivor, she’s a fighter, she’s savvy — as my mom would say, she has bounce-back-ability, no matter what happens, she’ll be able to get up and come back. Those are similar qualities I find myself that I think we relate to.”

Bromfield later responded to the interview in an Instagram post on Wednesday, writing, “And i know if i ever doubt myself . He will remind me how amazing i am ❤️‼️”

Together since 2022 — following some years of back-and-forth-talking — Lyles and Bromfield were one another’s biggest champions in Paris, even as Lyles’ Olympic run was cut short due to COVID-19.

Days before the “Today” show appearance, the 27-year-old Lyles publicly praised Bromfied, a bronze medalist in the 4×400 meter relay from the Tokyo Games in 2021, stating in a lengthy Instagram post how she’s had to combat “the pure disrespect and hatred towards her from her own country.”

“Just want to say how incredibly proud I am of my GF and give her the flowers she deserves now 💐,” Lyles posted on Aug. 17.

“She has been through so much in her life that I could never imagine fighting through. Beyond that she is a survivor, 2x Olympian, Olympic medalists, Multi world championship medalist, and has been representing Jamaica on the world stage since she was 8 years old.

“But the most impressive thing I’ve seen recently is how she’s dealt with the pure disrespect and hatred towards her from her own country. This woman has been attacked by people who have never met her, heard her name before, never seen her smile, or heard what she believes in. But she keeps moving forward knowing that God will always make a way. Thats why God keeps blessing her!”

Although Lyles didn’t expand on the apparent backlash, comments made on the “Track World News” podcast last month caused a stir as the remarks suggested he was privy to sensitive information.

“I have been getting the drama from the Jamaican camp [for] at least five years now,” he said,” according to Us Weekly. “There [are] a lot of times where I make references about Jamaicans, but I am not trying to go back and forth, like, I know information that other people don’t.”

One Instagram user chided Lyles, stating in the comments, “You should apologize to her for publicly revealing things she discussed with you in public.”

Bromfield, 26, thanked Lyles for the heartfelt message and praised his character.

“I love and appreciate you always,” she shared.
