Paul Dano reveals ‘a tracking device’ was kept with ‘The Batman’ script

“The Batman” was surely a box office success, and that’s, in part, due to director Matt Reeves’ script — which he carefully kept under wraps.

Star Paul Dano — who played the sinister yet cunning Riddler — admitted how the screenplay was under such tight security that production locked up the document.

The 38-year-old actor recently spoke to GQ Hype about the script, noting that DC even had a tracker plugged on the doc.

“ ‘Don’t lose this. Put it in your special binder,’ ” the “Ruby Sparks” star recalled being told by producers.

“This was the first time I had a binder with a locking code on it. Then they added a tracking device.”

Alongside Dano, the star-studded cast includes Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/The Batman, as well as Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, John Turturro and Andy Serkis.

“Twilight” alum Pattinson, 36, went through months of physical prep to prepare for his role as the Caped Crusader.

Pattinson revealed in March how he forced himself to tally up sips of water as filming for his shirtless scenes drew near.

“I had about three months before the movie started, and then you’re working out before and after work all the time,” he told People about his fitness regimen. “You just cut down and cut down and cut down before the couple of scenes with your shirt off, and you’re counting sips of water.”

The actor said it really helped him get into character.

“It’s funny because you read the script and you spend loads of time trying to figure out, ‘How can I play this character who does these sort of audacious acts?’ ”

“And the closer I got to the shoot, I got more and more paranoid — you know, it feels ridiculous when you’re just sitting at home in a T-shirt — and then you put it on,” he said about his heavy cape and costume. “It’s got an elemental power to it.”

Farrell portrayed the villainous Penguin and looked unrecognizable as the deformed mobster. Reeves will be developing a spinoff centered on the supervillain for HBO Max in the future.

The Irish actor will be executive-producing the project and will “delve into the Penguin’s rise to power in the Gotham criminal underworld,” according to TVLine.
