Queen Camilla reveals that she loves gardening — but ‘everything creaks and groans’

It looks like Queen Camilla still has the thyme to garden after all.

While visiting Northern Ireland last week on an official visit with her husband, King Charles, the 75-year-old revealed that she enjoys gardening – but it makes her “creak” if she tends to her plants for too long.

“I love gardening,” The Queen said while visiting the historic Armagh Robinson library in Northern Ireland, according to The Independent.

“I’m a passionate gardener,” she continued. “And it’s very therapeutic. But I always stay too long. Everything creaks and groans.”

The Post reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment.

The trip marked their first since King Charles’ coronation ceremony, which took place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey.

According to the outlet, it was also the King’s first trip to Armagh in 23 years.

It’s no secret that King Charles has a bit of a green thumb himself, as he has fiercely advocated for climate change policy over the years, but it seems like his wife does, too.

During a 2022 documentary for Country Life Magazine, the royal revealed that she loved gardening at Highgrove House, which is the private residence of the King and Queen, according to The Daily Mail.

“You can go and garden, and you just become completely involved in what you’re doing and what you’re planting,” she says in the video, according to the outlet, as the documentary was filmed at Highgrove.

Although this was their first trip since the coronation ceremony, the two have been attending events around London.

In mid-May, they visited Covent Garden in London, to celebrate the 390th anniversary of St. Paul’s Church, also known as the Actors’ Church in their first joint public appearance since the coronation ceremony.

While they were there, they met with children from a local school and went to The Apple Market in Covent Garden, which is a craft fair, among other engagements that day.

The coronation ceremony was one for the history books, as it marked the official transfer of power to King Charles after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, this past September.

She was 96 at the time of her death, and had reigned for 70 years.

After the grand ceremony on May 6, the royals and general public celebrated with a coronation concert on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Performers included Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and former “Pussycat Doll” singer Nicole Scherzinger.

During the concert, King Charles’ son, Prince William, delivered a speech to the big crowd of 20,000 people – congratulating his father and paying tribute to his grandmother, but appeared to leave out his stepmom, Queen Camilla.

“My father’s first words, on entering Westminster Abbey yesterday, were a pledge of service,” he said during the emotional message.

“It was a pledge to continue to serve, because for over 50 years, in every corner of the UK, across the Commonwealth, and around the world, he has dedicated himself to serve others, both current and future generations, and those whose memory must not be neglected.”
