The show will go online.
The 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards kick off at 8 p.m. EST on Sunday, Feb. 26. But in a shift away from longtime previous broadcasters TNT and TBS, they’re instead streaming on Netflix’s YouTube channel.
The ceremony honors both television and film and is a dependable predictor of how the winds will blow at the 2023 Oscars next month. It’s dazzling Tinseltown from LA’s Fairmont Century Plaza.
Eleven-time Oscar nominee “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was nominated for five awards and could sweep many of the top film categories, as stars Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu and Jamie Lee Curtis all got nods.
But indie darling “The Banshees of Inisherin” — also nominated for five SAGs and which won Best Picture at this year’s Golden Globe Awards — could pull off an upset and take every award, everywhere, all at once Sunday night. It is also up for nine Academy Awards on March 12.
On the television side, many eyes are on Season 2 of HBO’s fan-fave “The White Lotus,” which is expected by some to take the prize for Ensemble in a Drama Series. The show’s saucy breakout star, Emmy- and Golden Globe-winner Jennifer Coolidge, could face competition from “Euphoria” cast member Zendaya for Female Actor in a Drama Series.
The live blog below will be updated throughout the night as winners are announced.
