This is not fake news.

Sebastian Stan had been cast as a younger Donald Trump in the upcoming film “The Apprentice” by Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbasi, Deadline reports.

“‘The Apprentice’ is an exploration of power and ambition set in a world of corruption and deceit,” the film’s description reads. “It’s a mentor-protégé story that charts the origins of an American dynasty.

“Filled with larger-than-life characters, it reveals the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers.”

Aside from that vague description, not much else is known about the film. However, it has been confirmed that production is already underway.

Joining Stan, 41, in the film is “Succession” alum Jeremy Strong and Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova as attorney Roy Cohn and Ivana Trump, respectively.

The Post reached out to Stan’s rep for comment.

News of Stan’s casting as the former President of the United States has divided fans on social media.

“Excited to see Sebastian Stan take on the role of Donald Trump in the new film,” one user posted on X (formerly Twitter).

“Sebastian is great,” Patrick Schwarzenegger, son of former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, weighed in. “Love him. He also must have a really great team. He gets amazing projects.”

“That is not a bad likeness,” a third person commented, before asking if Trump, 77, would appear in the film.

Another joked: “Watch me being attracted to young Trump. Sebastian Stan, the power you have.”

Despite these positive comments, many others were taken aback by the Marvel heartthrob’s casting.

“They can give Trump the ’90s soft lighting all they want, but we all know that is some extremely kind casting. I’m not even a Sebastian Stan girl, but please. That is some ‘Crown’-level casting,” one social media user said, referring to the backlash the Netflix show received for casting a “too handsome” Dominic West to play King Charles.

“This must be April the 1st,” a second user quipped. “If someone wanted to cast me as Donald Trump I would be personally offended.”

One X-er opined that it was “too soon” for a film about the former president, who is currently embroiled in several ongoing legal battles.

“I love Sebastian Stan & I absolutely hate Donald Trump. I personally think it’s far too early for any kind of Trump biopic,” the user stated.

“So Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump wasn’t a nightmare I had last night?” another asked, as someone simply wrote: “I am shocked.”

Some users even offered up their own opinions on alternative casting choices.

“Owen Wilson is literally right there for young Don,” a user chimed in.

“Aside from the incredibly generous casting given how hot Sebastian Stan is, until I know more about this film ugh,” a second user stated. “However, if it’s good, it will be an interesting challenge. Having seen Bertie Carvel do Trump only last year [in stage production ‘The 47th’], it’s a lot to live up to as that was brilliant!”

The former president is the latest of several real-life figures whom the “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” star has portrayed.

Stan famously portrayed Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee in Hulu’s “Pam & Tommy,” which garnered the star several rave reviews as well as an Emmy nomination.

He also played Jeff Gilooly, the abusive ex-husband of figure skater Tonya Harding, in the 2017 Margot Robbie-led “I, Tonya.”

Most recently, Stan starred as Robinhood Markets CEO Vladimir Tenev in the film “Dumb Money,” which is based on the Gamestop stock surge of 2021.

“The Apprentice”— presumably named after Trump’s NBC reality show, which ran from 2004 to 2017— has yet to announce a release date.
