Serena Williams was able to sneak in an extra guest to the 2023 Met Gala on Monday.
The tennis star announced she and tech mogul husband Alexis Ohanian are expecting another child in an Instagram post showing off their Gala fits.
“Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala,” she wrote on the post with pictures showing her slight baby bump.
Williams gave birth to daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. in September 2017.
Williams, 41, wore a black Gucci outfit in the Gala theme of “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty.”
In their latest Met Gala appearance, Ohanian was seen with his hand on Williams’ stomach.
The pair was married in in December 2016 in a Rome ceremony attended by Vogue editor-in-chief Wintour.
Williams announced her retirement from professional tennis in a candid August 2022 essay in Vogue, finishing out with a short-yet-inspiring run at the U.S. Open.
“I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me,” Williams wrote. “A few years ago I quietly started Serena Ventures, a venture capital firm. Soon after that, I started a family. I want to grow that family.”
After a career in which she won an Open-era record 25 singles titles, it appears she and Ohanian have begun doing just that.
Williams, who is shopping a new memoir, according to Page Six, was recently spotted cheering on the Miami Heat, though it appeared Jimmy Butler’s epic Game 4 performance against the Bucks in the first round was not enough to keep the soon-to-be mother-of-two awake.
“Mom & Dad night out?” Ohanian wrote on Twitter and Instagram along with a picture of Williams asleep.
They better enjoy it while they can — soon they’ll be playing full-time doubles matches.
Williams wasn’t alone in announcing a second baby on the way at the Met Gala, as Karlie Kloss also revealed she’s pregnant.
