Did Target miss the mark?
A TikTok lifestyle influencer and mom of a young girl has aimed her sights at the department store over what the called “a redesign” of their shopping carts.
Peeved Ashley Darling recently posted a video inside the aisles of a Target and complained that “you can definitely tell that they did not consult one single mother while redesigning these carts.”
While she likes the bucket seat for her little one, the mom griped that its two cupholders situated next to it are just a recipe for trouble.
“Guess who’s gonna be pulling up my straw and trying to drink my iced coffee? This one, yep,” Darling said, pointing to her daughter.
“I think pretty much anyone can tell you we don’t want the cupholders up here,” she added, suggesting they go down closer to the bow of the cart.
On a gray section in the back of the bucket seat, there are also tiny holes that Darling says are the “Perfect size for toddler fingers — to get their fingers literally stuck in there.”
She went on to bet there would be “some sort of lawsuit” down the road because of them.
In this case, however, the court of public opinion didn’t take Darling’s side online.
“I think the holes are large enough that a [toddler’s] finger won’t get stuck and I like the cup holder,” one person commented on the video.
“I actually kind of like the cupholder there — my son can put his cup there himself, so it’s not getting dropped in the store,” added another.
One person without kids agreed.
“Since I’m not a mom, I want my cup holder near my hands at the handle & the phone holder.”
And, someone quickly broke down an apparent flaw in Darling’s proposed redesign.
“I don’t want to have to stop, walk to the end of my cart, take a drink and put it back before I can move forward again.”
