Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce kept their romance hidden for longer than some thought.
Dave Merritt, a defensive backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, revealed during a recent installment of “The Sports Shop with Reese and K-Mac” podcast that Swift attended Kelce’s games before she was spotted at one for the first time last September.
“When [Taylor] started to come around, it was privately,’ he said. “She was coming into the stadiums without people knowing until the camera put a big spotlight on it.”
Swift attended what fans believed was her first Chiefs game when they beat the Chicago Bears, 41-10, on Sept. 24.
The Chiefs had three preseason and two regular season games before that — the NFL season opener at home against the Lions and at the Jaguars.
During the Chiefs’ Week 3 matchup against the Bears, the “Cruel Summer” singer was seen cheering in a private suite with Kelce’s mom, Donna.
Merritt went on to address those who hated the attention Swift would get on the broadcast at games.
”There were so many people that were hating the fact that she was being shown on the TV that, you know what? You’re part of our family because you’re with Travis,” he said.
“So, therefore, you’re our little sister… You’re part of our family.”
Swift attended 13 Chiefs games last season that fans knew of — and the couple sealed the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win over the 49ers with a kiss on the field at Allegiant Stadium on Feb. 11.
Kelce recently traveled to Australia to visit Swift, who performed four shows in Sydney as part of her Eras Tour, which continues in Singapore this weekend.
The couple started dating last summer and went public with their relationship in October.
