Red Bull might give you wings, but for some that comes with unwanted side effects.

Energy drinks can seem like a life-saver when it comes to staying awake to keep up with school, work and other parts of life.

According to Mintel research, the market for energy drinks had surged by 71% since 2017 and reached a total of $23 billion in sales in 2022.

But energy drinks might not be worth all the buzz, with risks of dehydration, heart complications, anxiety and insomnia, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

MiO, a liquid beverage mix owned by Kraft Heinz, has launched a program designed to compensate consumers for the pitfalls of energy drinks: Energy Drink Insurance.

If you’ve suffered from brain fog, jitters, fatigue, excessive sweating, headaches or anything else, MiO might pay you for your troubles.

A written entry will give the opportunity to receive up to $50 in damages, while a video entry could offer up to $200. MiO

Participants can submit their claims on EnergyDrinkInsurance.com by outlining their experiences and aftermath — but entertainment is key.

Submissions will be reviewed by the company’s expert claims assessment team — and “the more entertaining details, the better.”

According to the site, submissions will be judged on the following criteria: 50% entertainment value based on delivery and humor, 50% amount of damage caused by the energy drink.
