Tony Romo is rooting for the NFL’s biggest love story.

Ahead of Super Bowl 2024 in Las Vegas, Romo — who will be calling the big game between the Chiefs and 49ers at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday for CBS — gushed over Kansas City’s star tight end Travis Kelce, whose romance with pop megastar Taylor Swift has ignited media hysteria across football and pop culture.

“I know this, the passion of this sport and seeing him go out and do what he loves and be great at it is a joyful thing, the same way that he’s going to watch her and I think that in a perfect world, they wouldn’t have all of the media attention around it but the truth is, they’re just too dominant at what they do, they’re both special people,” Romo said, according to the Sporting Tribune.

“I love their hearts, I think they’re both incredible human beings who are super genuine, treat people the same no matter what walk of life you’re in, and you root for people like that… I think they’re two really unique, special people.”

First linked over the summer, the hype surrounding Swift and Kelce’s romance soared to new heights in September, when the 14-time Grammy winner attended her first Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Swift’s game-day appearances have continued to captivate the masses throughout the season, despite some grumbling from “a few dads, Brads and Chads.”

Romo, who has referred to Swift as Kelce’s wife in a few on-air jokes, has been in the tight end’s shoes before with his past high-profile romances with Carrie Underwood and Jessica Simpson.

Simpson dated Romo from November 2007 to the summer of 2009, with the singer-turned-mogul drawing the ire of Dallas fans when he quarterbacked the Cowboys.

Romo’s decision to go to Cabo with Simpson during a bye week ahead of a divisional-round playoff matchup with the Giants in 2008, which the Cowboys lost, drew particular scrutiny.

Romo, who retired from the NFL in 2017, has been married to wife Candice Crawford, the sister of “Gossip Girl” alum Chace Crawford, since 2011. The couple shares three sons.

As for Swift, 34, she is expected to be in attendance for her 13th game of the season on Sunday, when Kelce, also 34, chases his third Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs.

The pop star — who resumed her Eras Tour on Wednesday in Tokyo, where she’ll perform three more shows through Saturday — previously opened up about the game-day attention.

“There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once,” Swift told Time as part of her Person of the Year cover story.

She later added, “I’m just there to support Travis… I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

Super Bowl 2024 will kick off at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
