Wendy’s is offering $1 Frostys through September — thanks to McDonald’s

Don’t worry if your local McDonald’s ice cream machine is broken because Wendy’s has your back.

On Wednesday, Wendy’s announced that it has partnered with the developer of McBroken.com, the website that tracks if the Golden Arches of your choosing has a working ice cram machine at the moment, to track “where a Frosty Fix was needed the most.”

They found that “the other guy’s” machines are often down for two to three hours at a time and Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, New York and Los Angeles have the most downtime.

In light of the findings, Wendy’s is offering fast-food fans who want something sweet a “reliable” Frosty treat — for just $1 through the end of September.

“Wendy’s saw that dessert fans are faced with ice cream machine outages all too often and knew just what the fix was – a Frosty! Wendy’s knows that when fans are craving a sweet treat, they deserve to have a reliable and delicious option,” the company said in a press release.

“To make sure that fans with a sweet tooth are covered, Wendy’s is mobilizing to bring consumers Frosty treats in their times of greatest need.”

In addition to identifying which McDonald’s locations have ice cream machines that are working, broken or inconclusive, McBroken.com also shows nearby Wendy’s locations so fans can head over after discovering their Golden Arches can’t provide the sweet treat they want.

The Ohio-based chain reminded customers that a Frosty craving can come at any time, but fans might want to avoid trying to get a McFlurry during lunch or snack time — or rather anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. when machines are most often unavailable, according to McBroken.com data.

“Wendy’s fans can count on the Frosty when they need it most,” they said, adding that customers can get their small Chocolate Frosty or opt for the limited return of the Vanilla Frosty.
