They ride on.

The hit cowboy drama “Yellowstone” is wrapping after five seasons, but that’s not the end of the road.

There are numerous spinoffs in the works, and even a Beth and Rip continuation show. The Paramount Network drama was created by Taylor Sheridan and first premiered in 2018.

Nearly 17 million viewers tuned into the premiere of the second half of Season 5 on Nov. 10. “Yellowstone” is about the Dutton family, owners of the largest ranch in Montana. It centers on patriarch John (Kevin Costner), who was also the governor before his death, and his adult children Kayce (Luke Grimes), Jamie (Wes Bentley), Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Beth’s husband, Rip (Cole Hauser).

Here’s everything to know about what’s next in the “Yellowstone” extended universe, which is helmed by Sheridan.

“1883”

The first “Yellowstone” spinoff followed a previous generation of the Dutton family, living post-Civil War. It starred Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Sam Elliott. The story explored how the Duttons came to own the land that became their famous ranch. The Emmy-nominated show premiered in 2021 and was initially renewed for a Season 2, but it killed off many of the characters, and creator Taylor Sheridan said he didn’t plan for it to last multiple seasons.

“When [Paramount execs] read the last episode of 1883, I don’t think they digested what had just happened, even though I made it quite clear from the very beginning,” Sheridan told Deadline in 2022.

According to the Dallas Morning News, studio execs met with Sheridan and asked him to create a Season 2 as if the major character deaths hadn’t happened. Instead, Sheridan offered up an idea which became the show “1923” following the family four decades later.

“The story I heard is [Paramount Global CEO] Bob Bakish watched it and said, ‘Wait a minute, she dies! They all die? What do we do in season two?’ I said, ‘There is no season two,’” Sheridan told Deadline.

The creator added, “It’s the one great thing about the Dutton family; you can skip generations and put them in all these unique situations, and it has nothing to do with ‘Yellowstone,’ nothing to do with 1883 and yet it’s tethered completely to them, but they’re all stand-alones.

This spinoff prequel series aired its first season in 2022. A second and final season is coming in February 2025. Starring Harrison Ford and Hellen Mirren as Jacob and Cara Dutton, the show focuses on Dutton family ancestors living in the title era, navigating life during the Prohibition and Great Depression. Brendan Sklenar co-stars as Spencer Dutton, their nephew who is more like a son to them.

“1944”

This series was announced in 2023. It hasn’t come out yet, but it will follow the incarnation of the Dutton family that lived at the end of World War II. Casting hasn’t been announced yet, and neither has a premiere date.

Since it’s set just two decades after “1923,” it’s possible that older versions of “1923” characters like Spencer Dutton would be in it, but that hasn’t been confirmed.

“The Madison”

This spinoff was originally called “2024” but its title was later changed.

It will star Michelle Pfeiffer as a woman who moves from New York to Montana after her husband and brother-in-law die in a plane crash. This is the show that was originally rumored to star Matthew McConaughey, but that’s no longer happening. Pfeiffer will be joined by “Suits” star Patrick J. Adams and “Lost” alum Matthew Fox. Kurt Russell is also rumored to have a role, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed.

Per Paramount’s official description, the show is “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”

There were rumors that “Yellowstone” characters such as Beth and Rip could appear in the show, but that has not been confirmed.

“The Madison” does not yet have an announced premiere date.

A spinoff focused on Beth and Rip

“Yellowstone” is supposedly ending with Season 5. However, in August, multiple outlets reported that “Yellowstone” may return for a Season 6 with a story that would reportedly focus on Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser).

On Dec. 11, Deadline reported that Reilly and Hauser have closed deals to lead a spinoff series.

Sources told the outlet that “doing another season is not out of the question,” but the focus on continuing the story of “Yellowstone” is now on the new show about Beth and Rip.

So, per the latest news, the Beth and Rip series will not be “Yellowstone” Season 6, but rather a new show.

Hauser, 49, told The Post in September that he’d reprise his role as Rip beyond Season 5.

“If Taylor writes it, I would certainly love to do it,” he said. “The cast, you know, I consider them all family. So if Taylor was to do something and bring it and put it on my table, I’m certain I would do it.”

Ian Bohen, who plays ranch hand Ryan on “Yellowstone,” also made cryptic comments to The Post.

He said that Season 5 is “not necessarily” the end.

Bohen added, “Maybe there’s a future that you want to continue.”

Ryan works closely with Rip, so Bohen could likely be featured prominently in the Beth and Rip spinoff show.

“We’ll have to see what unfolds,” he teased.

“6666”

This spinoff show was first announced in February 2021. It would be set at the modern-day 6666 ranch, also known as the “Four Sixes” ranch, a historic Texas ranch that’s famous among real cowboys. “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan used it as the inspiration for the show.

“I grew up in the shadow of the Four Sixes,” he told the Hollywood Reporter in 2023.

“To just get one of their horses was a status symbol, because they’re so well trained,” he explained. “This was the ranch I based [‘Yellowstone’s’] scope and operation on, because it didn’t exist in Montana. Most ranches there had already been carved up. They’d already lost it.”

Since 2022, Sheridan himself has owned that iconic ranch. Per the Austin American-Statesman, Sheridan buying the 266,000-acre property marked its first-ever purchase since its founding in 1870.

The ranch has appeared on “Yellowstone,” especially in Jimmy’s (Jefferson White) storyline. But there hasn’t been much news on the status of this show since 2021.

In Paramount’s initial 2021 announcement about the show, the description read, “Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing.”

“The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world-class cowboys are born and made.”

The last update was in 2022, when Paramount announced that the show would air on Paramount Network (rather than streaming-only on Paramount+).

No casting details have been announced, but it’s likely that Jimmy would be a main character, so perhaps other “Yellowstone” ranch hands like Ryan (Ian Bohen) and Walker (Ryan Bingham) would star.

The “Yellowstone” series finale airs Sunday, Dec. 15 (8 p.m.) on Paramount Network.
