Travis Kelce reunited with girlfriend Taylor Swift in Australia following Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024, and it’s been speculated a close friend joined the Chiefs tight end on the adventure.
Kelce made the trip to Sydney via private plane with his best pal, free-agent tight end Ross Travis, according to the Daily Mail.
Taking to his Instagram Story on Feb. 21, 2024, Travis shared a photo taken on a plane with the caption, “Down Under.”
Kelce, 34, was filmed exiting the plane by Australian news networks on Feb. 22 in Sydney, where Swift, also 34, is performing four shows as part of her blockbuster Eras Tour.
Here’s what you need to know about Kelce’s close friend:
He played on the Chiefs with Kelce
Travis went undrafted in 2015 and signed with the Chiefs’ practice squad that September, only to be released a week later.
The 6-foot-7 tight end re-signed with Kansas City two months later and remained with the team until he was waived in November 2017.
Kelce was selected by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft at No. 63 overall.
The pair celebrated the Chiefs’ AFC West title in the 2016 season, as seen in a photo Travis posted to his Instagram at the time.
He went on to play for other NFL teams
The Indianapolis Colts claimed Travis off waivers one day after he was waived by the Chiefs in November 2017.
He missed the 2018 season due to a torn ACL and was placed on injured reserve.
Travis went on to have a short stint with the New York Jets from 2019-20, and was signed to the practice squads of the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions throughout 2021.
He hasn’t played in the NFL since being released by the Lions in December 2021.
He has photos with Taylor Swift
Travis has been photographed with Kelce’s girlfriend, pop superstar Swift, on several occasions at Chiefs games during the 2023 season.
He posted photos with the “Cruel Summer” singer — who started dating Kelce in the summer of 2023 — on Instagram, which showed them partying in a private suite during Super Bowl 2024 on Feb. 11, 2024.
He played college basketball at Penn State
The Minnesota native was considered a top high school recruit and opted to play basketball at Penn State, and did not play college football.
He played in all 32 games and started 16 in his freshman season, from 2011-12, and helped lead the Nittany Lions to a fourth-place finish in the Big Ten the next year — averaging 7.4 rebounds, the highest finish and best average for a PSU player since 2007.
Travis played in all 34 games during his junior season from 2013-14, making 26 starts and averaging 8.4 points with a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game.
At the time, wanted to pursue a career in music production, per Penn State.
