The walls are caving on powerful video game streamer and formerly the face of Twitch, Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, AKA Dr. Disrespect.
Beahm was ominously banned from Twitch in 2020, seemingly without reason.
However, several ex-Twitch employees, notably Cody Conners, exposed Beahm for having inappropriately messaged a minor in 2017 in the streaming platform’s messaging service, Twitch Whispers.
“He got banned because got caught sexting a minor in the then existing Twitch whispers product. He was trying to meet up with her at TwitchCon. The powers that be could read in plain text,” Conners posted on X. “Case closed, gang.”
Beahm confirmed the accusation in a statement he posted on social media, that he did indeed knowingly chat with a minor and it “sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate.”
With the confirmation from Beahm, the San Francisco 49ers have decided to go their separate ways from the popular video game streamer who has 4.7 million subscribers on YouTube and an estimated net worth of $10 million.
“We take these developments seriously and will not be working with him going forward,” the 49ers said in a statement via Digiday.
The social media star had a strong presence with San Francisco, even announcing the team’s third-round pick in 2022 when they took running back Tyrion Davis-Price.
Beahm also did a promo for the team in August 2022 while rocking the team’s No. 2 jersey along with his patented sunglass-mustache combo.
Beahm’s lengthy statement continues for several paragraphs but confirms the validity of the accusations.
“Were there Twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not,” the statement reads. “These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more. Nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed, I never even met the individual.
“I went through a lengthy arbitration regarding a civil dispute with Twitch, and that case was resolved by a settlement. Let me be clear: it was not a criminal case against me, and no criminal charges have ever been brought against me.”
The 49ers are suspected to be the first in a long list of sponsors that may withdraw their support from his future endeavors.
Other sponsors include Turtle Beach, FanDuel, and Skybound Entertainment, to name a few.
Beahm further said in his statement that he would be on vacation with his family but would be back.
“I’m not f–king going anywhere,” he continued.
