California officials found a country guitarist and his wife dead on a road near the Mojave Desert last week.

The late Larry Petrie and his wife of 60 years, Betty Petrie, were reportedly found dead in their vehicle in a remote area of ​​Kern County, Petrie’s cousin Laurie Sanders told The Bakersfield Calif.

“What were they doing there? They don’t travel that far from home,” Sanders told the outlet, noting that Petrie got lost on the way to a music gig weeks ago.

The department said in a press release that the Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputy found Larry Petrie sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, and that he found Betty Petrie leaning against the rear tire. Detectives of the murder were not called to the spot.
