Baker Mayfield and wife Emily are celebrating his next NFL chapter in paradise.
Two days after the quarterback agreed to join the Buccaneers in NFL free agency, Emily posted a scenic snap of the couple holding hands at the beach.
“Happy place,” Emily shared Friday on Instagram.
Fans of the quarterback quickly flocked to the comments section, where they congratulated the Mayfields on the move to Tampa Bay.
“Love this pic! So happy for you and Baker!!!” one Instagram user exclaimed, while another wrote, “Great picture. Congratulations to you both on the move to Tampa!”
Mayfield and the Buccaneers agreed to a one-year deal on Wednesday that’s worth up to $8.5 million.
The 27-year-old quarterback spent the first half of the 2022 season with the Panthers before the Rams claimed him off waivers in December.
Mayfield will now have the chance to compete for the starting job in Tampa following Tom Brady’s retirement in February.
“We’ve always, all of us in the front office and the coaches as well … we’ve seen a fiery competitor, very confident, smart, he’s got a very good arm,” Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht said Thursday of Mayfield.
“We’re excited to add him to the fray and it’s going to be a great competition. It’s going to be, since I’ve been here, really the real first legit QB competition in training camp, which will be a lot of fun to watch.”
Mayfield and third-year quarterback Kyle Trask are the only signal-callers under contract with the Buccaneers.
It’s been a winding road to Tampa for Mayfield.
The first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Mayfield spent the first four years of his career in Cleveland.
When the Browns acquired his replacement in March 2022, then-Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, Mayfield requested a trade out of Cleveland and was dealt to the Panthers in July.
He finished the 2022 season with the Rams, replacing injured starter Matthew Stafford.
Through 72 games played, Mayfield has thrown for 16,288 yards, 102 touchdowns, and 64 interceptions.
The Mayfields have been married since 2019.
