Lea Michele says ill son ‘not out of the woods’ as she returns to ‘Funny Girl’ on Broadway

Lea Michele may be back on Broadway, but her son is not “out of the woods completely,” she said.

Earlier this week, the former “Glee” star revealed that her son, Ever Leo, 2, was taken to the hospital due to a “scary health issue.”

In a video posted to her Instagram story on Saturday, the 36-year-old announced that she’s back starring as Fanny Brice in “Funny Girl” on Broadway, and shared an update on her son.

“It’s been a really long week, and we’re still not out of the woods completely with our son,” she said in the video. “But he’s headed into a good direction, and we’re really, really grateful.”

Michele also added that she was extremely thankful for the support that everyone had been showing her during this hard time.

“But I’m really happy to be back with my ‘Funny Girl’ family,” she concluded the video. “And I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for just so much love and support this week. I really, really appreciated it.”

The Post reached out to Michele’s rep for comment.

The “Scream Queens” star initially announced the news in an Instagram story earlier this week, which was captured by Page Six at the time.

“I’m so sorry but unfortunately I will be out of @funnygirlbway today,” Michele wrote alongside a photo with her hand on Ever’s arm.

“We are at the hospital with our son dealing with a scary health issue that I need to be here for,” she continued.

In August 2020, she and her husband Zandy Reich welcomed their first child, Ever.

Reich and Michele married in March 2019. They met at a mutual friends’ wedding, according to Town and Country Magazine.

“Funny Girl” is Michele’s first role back after her 2020 controversy.

She had received backlash at the time regarding her behavior on the set of the hit TV show “Glee,” as many of her cast mates accused her of being a “nightmare” to work with.

During a February interview with Interview Magazine, she spoke about starring as Fanny Brice and admitted that it was the “hardest f–king role in New York.”

“What I told myself stepping into ‘Funny Girl’ was, ‘If I can’t take my role as a leader offstage as important as my role as a leader onstage, then I shouldn’t do this show.’ Because that was always a struggle for me,” she told the outlet at the time.

Michele continued, “So to have this opportunity now at 36 years old as a wife and a mother — to step into this job that comes with so much pressure and a huge amount of responsibility — was a very, very big achievement for me.”

Lea Michele is set to star in “Funny Girl” until its closing on Sept. 3, 2023.
