Viewers of Saturday’s coronation of King Charles III couldn’t help but notice the strong resemblance between Princess Charlotte and her late grandmother, Princess Diana.
The 8-year-old — whose full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana — attended the ceremony alongside her parents, Prince William, 40, and Kate Middleton, 41.
Twitter users were shocked by how the youngster looks so much like the dearly departed “people’s princess” when comparing childhood photos.
Diana died in a car crash in 1997 at the age of 36. She was married to Charles, 74, from 1981 until 1996.
“Her way of smile reminded me [of] her granny Princess Diana, she had the same shy smile.😍 God bless our little princess and future Princess Royal,” someone gushed over Charlotte, who turned 8 this week.
“#PrincessDiana was painfully shy. It looks to me like #PrincessCharlotte may have inherited some of that shyness? #Coronation,” another noted.
One royal fan chimed in: “Princess charlotte side eye.. reminds me of princess diana’s.”
Someone else scribed: “She definitely has a lot of Diana in her.”
Another user claimed: “This is wonderful ! Those eyes that look alike, as well as the way they smile.”
“Princess Charlotte with her best Diana gaze …. #Coronation,” someone else tweeted.
During the crowning ceremony, Charlotte adorably held onto younger brother Prince Louis’ small hand, as they stood behind their parents.
Charlotte donned an Alexander McQueen dress crafted from ivory silk and even wore a matching cape. She also sported a silver headpiece and white shoes.
Louis, 5, kept it sharp in a navy Dege & Skinner tunic and dress shoes.
Their parents rocked royal regal robes for the sacred liturgy and service — and Middleton even matched with her only daughter.
The Princess of Wales boasted a similar diamond-encrusted crown and also wore Alexander McQueen.
Middleton slipped on pearl and diamond earrings once owned by Diana, as well as the George VI Festoon Necklace made in 1950 for the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The gown underneath Middleton’s robe was made with ivory silk and featured embroidery covered with emblems such as roses, thistles, daffodils and shamrocks — the national flowers of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Charlotte and Louis’ brother, Prince George, even had a big role as one of Charles’ pages of honor.
George, 9, held onto the monarch’s robes as they strolled into Westminster Abbey and also wielded a ceremonial sword at the event.
This act represented his duty as protector of the monarch, as well as his role as the second in line to the British throne, behind William.
