We can now make up our own minds on what happened when a member of Victor Wembanyana’s security team slapped Britney Spears in Las Vegas.
TMZ has obtained video from outside the Catch restaurant at the ARIA hotel.
Spears runs up and taps Wembanyana on the back, and then a security guard — identified as Spurs head of security Damian Smith — slaps her away with a backhand.
Las Vegas police announced Friday that the security guard would not be charged in the incident.
Police said that Spears struck herself in the face, according to the AP.
Wembanyana, the no. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft for the Spurs, spoke to reporters at NBA Summer League on Thursday to tell his side of the story.

“When I got back to the hotel, I didn’t forget about this, but I thought it was no big deal,” he told reporters on Thursday. “And then [I was told] this was Britney Spears. At first, I was like, ‘No, you’re joking!’ But yeah, it turns out it was Britney Spears.
“I never saw her face.”
Spears disagreed with his interpretation of events.

“I am aware of the players statement where he mentions ‘I grabbed him from behind’ but I simply tapped him on the shoulder,” she wrote on Instagram. “His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses off my face.
“I get swarmed by people all the time. In fact, that night. I was swarmed by a group of at least 20 fans. My security team didn’t hit any of them.”
While Smith reportedly apologized to Spears in-person, explaining that she knows what it is like to be swarmed, she has requested a public apology.
