A relaxed Michael Jordan continued his dreamy getaway in Italy on Tuesday, the same day Larsa Pippen addressed the NBA icon’s highly publicized comments about her relationship with his son, Marcus.
Dressed in a black T-shirt and a matching hat, the 60-year-old Jordan puffed on a cigar aboard a boat in Capri with his wife, Yvette Prieto.
The six-time NBA champion ignited a media frenzy earlier this month when he was asked to weigh in on his 32-year-old son’s relationship with Larsa, 49, the ex-wife of Jordan’s former Bulls teammate, Scottie Pippen.
When asked if he approved of the romance, Jordan told the paparazzi, “No!”
Larsa, who made her relationship with Marcus Instagram-official in January, elaborated on the fallout of Jordan’s remarks this week, stating she felt “traumatized” over the ordeal.
“You thought it was funny,” Larsa told Marcus on Tuesday’s episode of their “Separation Anxiety” podcast. “I didn’t think it was funny. There is nothing funny about it.
“… I kinda felt like it went everywhere and I was kind of embarrassed.”
Larsa then explained she didn’t want people to think she was lying based on previous interviews, in which she expressed both families were OK with the relationship.
“I think people started to think that online they were saying that I was lying — that I lied and said that our parents are fine because I was doing interviews and saying both of our families are fine,” Larsa said.
“When I would say that, I felt like I didn’t embellish that… and I would say both of our parents want us to be happy… I do understand that it’s not awkward for us to be together because it’s us.
“But it probably is awkward for my ex [Scottie Pippen] and your dad because they have their own relationship or whatever it was. I wasn’t a part of that, you weren’t a part of that. So I feel like for them it probably is weird, it probably is weird for your dad. I can’t be mad. I understand… Oh my god, I was traumatized. I was like what are we going to do, people think I lied.”
Larsa spoke about her relationship with Marcus on “The Tamron Hall Show” earlier this year.
When asked if she felt she had the blessing of Jordan and Juanita Vanoy, Marcus’ mom, Larsa said, “Yeah, I feel like we’re great. Yeah. I feel like we’ve spent holidays together and it’s good. We’re in a great place.”
Marcus, who was first linked to Larsa in September 2022, said on Tuesday’s episode of their podcast that Jordan’s remarks were nothing more than a joke.
Further, Jordan messaged Marcus after the paparazzi encounter to make sure he “didn’t take anything the wrong way.”
“But then when the article came out, he texted me again and he never said ‘hell no’ and that’s not what the implications were,” Marcus said.
Marcus and Larsa’s connection initially fueled headlines as Jordan’s relationship with Pippen, 57, seemed to sour following the spring 2020 release of “The Last Dance.”
Pippen was said to be unhappy about his portrayal in the docu-series that chronicled the Bulls’ dynasty in the 1990s.
Larsa was married to Pippen from 1997 to 2021.
The “Real Housewives of Miami” personality shares four children with the former NBA star.
