Prince William’s favorite thing about Kate Middleton is her ‘normalcy’

Kate Middleton’s roots are showing — and Prince William “absolutely loves it.”

Thanks to her non-royal upbringing, the Princess of Wales has brought a healthy dose of normalcy to the lives of The Heir and the couple’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, a palace insider told People.

“Those children look pretty happy with life,” the source said. “A lot of it is the stabilizing normality Kate brings — and that’s how she grew up.”

Middleton, who was raised in the village of Bucklebury, is determined to give her children the chance to live “normal” childhoods, according to the source.

Growing up in the country, Middleton loved for the outdoors and embraced getting a little messy. She revealed on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast in 2020 that she is happiest when “I’m with my family outside in the countryside, and we’re all filthy dirty.”

Driving the kids to school also isn’t unusual. Middleton even makes sure either she or Prince William is home once they return. Any sort of family time is important to her, according to reports.

“She wasn’t brought up in that aristocratic setting where you see the children for a short time each day,” the insider explained.

It isn’t lost on Prince William and Princess Kate, as well as Prince George, that they are raising a future monarch.

Prince George, who will turn 10 on July 22, is apparently well aware of being second in the line of succession. He spent time on his own with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip before their deaths, even having a formal talk about his duties in 2020.

Nevertheless, with permission from the Queen and then-Prince Charles, William and Kate made a decision to prioritize parental responsibilities above royalty’s demands, making a conscious effort to give the kids a normal upbringing, the source said.

“Royal families over the generations haven’t had the chance to get those foundations right, but they have,” a friend of the couple told the outlet.
