Photographer Bryan Randall, the longtime partner of actress Sandra Bullock, died on Saturday at the age of 57 following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a neurodegenerative disease, The Post can confirm.
“It is with great sadness that we share that on August 5th Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a 3 year battle with ALS,” Bullock and his family shared in a statement provided to The Post on Monday. “Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.
“We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours,” the message continued.
The statement concluded with the family asking for privacy to “come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.”
The couple first met in 2015 when he photographed one of Bullock’s children, Louis, 13, at a birthday party, per TODAY.com.
The pair have been quite private about their relationship over the years, but she opened up about their connection during a December 2021 appearance on Jada Pinkett Smith’s now-defunct Facebook Watch talk show “Red Table Talk,” calling him “the love of my life.”
“I am someone who went through the divorce process,” she shared with the outlet. Bullock was previously married to entrepreneur Jesse James from 2005 to 2010.
“I found the love of my life. We share two beautiful children — three children, he’s got his older daughter. It’s the best thing ever,” she continued. “I don’t want to say do it how I do it, but I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner and a devoted mother.”
She also spoke about their co-parenting, as Bullock adopted both of her children — son Louis and daughter Laila, who is 11.
“My life was already on the track and here is this beautiful human being who doesn’t want anything to do with my life, but the right human being to be there — to help me … and he is the example — the example that I would want my children to have,” she said during the Facebook Watch show.
Randall was a talented photographer and primarily focused on “children’s portraits and outdoors scenes,” Closer Weekly reported last year.
He also worked as a high-fashion model in his earlier years, according to the outlet, and had even been on the pages of Vogue Paris at one point.
ALS is a serious progressive neurodegenerative disease that primarily affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, per the ALS Association.
The average lifespan for someone living with ALS is typically around two to five years.
Randall is survived by his daughter and family.
