Charissa Thompson “loves surprises” — just not the ones that involve marriage proposals on a Jumbotron.
When taking fan questions on Monday’s episode of her “Calm Down” podcast with Erin Andrews, the Fox Sports personality, 41, was asked if she liked surprises, to which Thompson opined about life-altering moments at sporting events.
“I love a surprise … you’ll do this, cause you’re so generous, like if it’s flowers, or if it’s anything like that, my massage, I love things like that. I’m into a surprise but not a surprise party — and if you ever put my name on that god damn Jumbotron and propose to me, it is a hard no,” Thompson said.
“And if you’re doing that, then you don’t know me.”
Thompson, who filed for divorce from sports agent Kyle Thousand in April 2022, is dating businessman Steven Cundari.
The “Thursday Night Football” host also elaborated on opening up her heart to love again.
“After my last situation, I was like I’m going to take a hard time out. Not a 20-second timeout, a hard timeout, and then, you just never know when someone’s going to come into your life,” Thompson said.
“I was terrified to start dating again because I didn’t want to have to go back into that cesspool and all the nightmare stories that we hear from our girlfriends about dating. I got really lucky and got set up in this situation, so he was already vetted, but I think that you can’t be afraid because, like anything, if that’s what you want — it sucks, heartbreak is terrible, divorce is terrible and all those things — but what’s worse is being in something that doesn’t make you happy or, just being like, ‘It’s OK, I’ll just be alone forever.’ I don’t want to be alone, I’m a teammate kind of gal. I want to have a partner.”
Thompson then offered a few words of advice to those who may be hesitant about taking the leap.
“Don’t be afraid because on the other side could be the greatest thing that could ever happen to you,” she said.
Thompson is currently gearing up for her second season with Amazon as part of the “Thursday Night Football” team that consists of former NFL stars Richard Sherman, Tony Gonzalez, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Andrew Whitworth.
