That certainly isn’t the face Taylor Swift has gotten accustomed to.
Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce, whose budding romance with Taylor Swift has taken the NFL world by storm, showed up to his Friday press conference wearing the headgear for Iowa State’s Cy the Cardinal mascot over his face.
Kelce quickly took the headgear off after entering the room before saying, “Go Cyclones.”
A former University of Cincinnati star, Kelce lost a bet when his alma mater got routed 30-10 on Oct. 14 by Iowa State, where the Chiefs vice president of communications Brad Gee attended.
“Another friendly wager,” Kelce said. “Unfortunately, my Bearcats are struggling right now in the Big 12. It’s all right, we got Baylor this week, hopefully, we can bounce back and get the train rolling.”
Kelce emerged as one of the country’s best tight ends at Cincinnati, which now sits dead last in the Big 12 at 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
During his senior season, Kelce recorded 45 receptions for 722 yards and eight touchdowns.
He was drafted in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Chiefs, and has since become one of the best tight ends in NFL history.
His recent romance with Swift has elevated his stardom to new heights and has become one of the biggest stories in the sport.
Swift has sat with Kelce’s family at multiple Chiefs games and has been spotted hitting the town and staying over at Kelce’s place.
“I was on top of the world after the Super Bowl, and right now even more on top of the world, so it’s fun man,” Kelce told reporters earlier this month. “At the same time, [the attention] comes with it. You’ve got a lot of people that care about Taylor, for good reason. So… just gotta keep living and earning and enjoying the moments.
“At the end of the day I’ve always been pretty good about compartmentalizing and being able to stay focused in this building and I’ll just keep rolling with that.”
