Draymond Green’s NBA choke get unapologetic ‘SNL’ treatment

Draymond Green’s latest NBA imbroglio is now in parody territory.

“Saturday Night Live” cast member Devon Walker spoofed an unapologetic Green reacting to his chokehold on Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert on the show’s “Weekend Update” sketch with Colin Jost and Michael Che.

The Golden State Warriors star was suspended five games for his latest on-court outburst.

Walker, as Green, started off saying thank you to Che for letting him come on to publicly apologize, to which Che said, “Okay so you’re sorry?”

“Hell no. I can’t wait to do it again,” Walker replied.

“I had a reason, all right? Rudy Gobert is a tall Frenchman who’s been pissing me off for years. Imagine if you had a 7-foot baguette in your face. You would want to do something too.”

He went on to say that he believes the situation and suspension has been blown out of proportion.

“I was trying to kill him. So, if you think about it, Che, I showed restraint,” he said.

The action wasn’t taken as lighthearted by the NBA, which doled out the suspension “based in part on Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts,” the league said in a statement.

Green has previously received three suspensions from the NBA and another from the Warriors.

Last season, he was given a suspension for drawing 16 technical fouls and another one later in the playoffs after he stomped on the chest of Domantas Sabonis.

Green also received one when he kicked LeBron James in the groin during the 2016 NBA Finals.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr believes the league made the right decision.

“He took it too far,” Kerr said before the Warriors’ 128-109 loss to the Thunder on Thursday. “Draymond was wrong. He knows that. It’s a bad look, and the five games are deserved.”

In the nine games Green has played this season, he has averaged 8.8 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.1 rebounds.
