Fans have a (Hillbilly) bone to pick with him.
Former “Voice” coach Blake Shelton and fellow country star Trace Adkins reunited Sunday on CBS’s “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash” to belt out a few tunes such as “Hillbilly Bone” and “Hell Right.”
However, many eagle-eyed fans pointed out that the supposed live segment took place mere minutes before Shelton, 47, took the stage at a WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
“How’s Blake Shelton “live” in Nashville for #CBSNashvilleNYE when he’s about to go on stage at @WinStarWorld in 5min? He must have one fast ass tour bus!” one user slammed on X (formerly Twitter).
“What happened to REAL country music,” a second person slammed. “Rap is not country!”
“This is an embarrassment to country music,” a third user ranted on the social media site.
Luckily, Shelton’s actual live performance, where he sang his hit “Goodbye Time,” was met with more positive reviews.
“My tears start at the first note,” one X user said, adding it was “one of his all-time best vocals.”
“Love this song, he sounds so good,” a second user gushed.
“There’s only 3 people who can sing this song beautifully; Conway Twitty, Glen Templeton and Blake Shelton,” said a third netizen. “Glad Blake and Glen keeps Conway’s legacy and music alive!”
The Post reached out to Shelton for comment.
Shelton’s performances come after his wife, Gwen Stefani, revealed that the pair would be celebrating the holiday separately.
“Well, it’s funny because I was going to be at his show, and then Vegas called and wanted me to be in Vegas,” Stefani, 54, explained to “Access Hollywood” last month.
According to the pop star, she was initially hesitant to accept the offer.
“Last year I did Vegas and I was like, ‘Remind me to never do Vegas again.’ [But] you sometimes want to … not be the host,” the singer laughed. “So I was like, ‘Eh, I’m gonna do it. If you’re gonna be working then I’m gonna be working.’ So I’m just gonna fly in and out. It’s gonna be awesome.”
Stefani added that she was “really looking forward” to entertaining her fans.
The “Rich Girl” songstress met Shelton when they were coaches on NBC’s “The Voice.” They began dating in 2015 after their respective divorces from Gavin Rossdale and Miranda Lambert.
The pair got engaged in October 2020 and were married in July 2021 during an intimate ceremony in Oklahoma.
