Patrick Mahomes Sr. is making headlines more than usual now that he runs in the same circle as Taylor Swift, but things might be getting out of hand.
The former major leaguer, who is the father of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has found himself at the center of internet rumors, which claimed he was present in the star-studded suite — where Jason Kelce went shirtless — at the Chiefs-Bills game Sunday at Highmark Stadium.
“Well you know what’s crazy? The people thought that was me and that wasn’t me,” Mahomes Sr. said on a recent installment of “Evan & Tiki” on WFAN radio.
Mahomes Sr. made headlines during the Chiefs’ 27-24 win against the Bills after now-viral videos showed a man with his arms crossed in the suite, staring somberly at Swift and Brittany Mahomes while they celebrated Kansas City’s lead in the third quarter.
Mahomes explained that he was in a separate suite during the game.
“I was actually two booths down, but soon as he [Kelce] started doing that [going shirtless] I was looking down and I saw,” Mahomes Sr. said.
“I’ve been in the booth with Taylor before and she was very nice and genuine and everything. I went over there and hung out with them a little bit after the game, after we had won … and said hi and all that.
“But both are some fun guys. If you think Jason is wild, you ought to see Travis.”
Mahomes Sr. said Travis is like another son to him.
When asked if he’ll be “in the suite with the crazies” at the Chiefs-Ravens AFC Championship game in Baltimore on Sunday, Mahomes Sr. said, “I hope not.”
It was hard to tell if he was joking, but the hosts got a good laugh out of it.
“Nah, I don’t think so,” Mahomes Sr. said. “Travis normally has his own thing and Patrick has his own deal too,” Mahomes Sr. said.
“…I imagine if Taylor wants her own suite, she’s got enough money to get whichever one she wants.”
Travis and Swift went public with their relationship last October, a month after they were first linked.
The former MLB pitcher is no stranger to the spotlight after a career from 1992-2003, including a stint with the New York Mets in 1999.
However, Swift’s level of fame is a different ball game.
The Chiefs will play their sixth consecutive AFC Championship game Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium.
The winner will face either the 49ers or the Lions, who will meet in the NFC Championship game on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
