Thomas Kingston, Lady Gabriella Windsor’s husband and Pippa Middleton’s ex-boyfriend, has died, Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday. He was 45.
Kingston died in Gloucestershire on Sunday, with emergency services called to the scene shortly after 6 p.m. His cause of death is still undetermined.
The financier and the editor, 42, tied the knot in 2019.
Gabriella is the daughter of the Prince of Kent, the late Queen Elizabeth’s first cousin.
“It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement on behalf of Gabriella, Mr Martin and Mrs Jill Kingston, Mrs Joanna Connolly and Mrs Emma Murray.
“Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing.”
King Charles and Queen Camilla also were informed of Kingston’s death, with the Palace noting that the monarchs “join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family.”
“In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family,” the statement said.
Gabriella and Kingston married at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 18, 2019 and share no children together.
Queen Elizabeth and the late Prince Philip both attended her special day.
The socialite is the second cousin to Charles, 75, and was present at his coronation last May.
