The Breadman is on Larry David’s mind.
In the latest episode of the comedian and writer’s show, “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” David mentions Artemi Panarin in a skit alongside actress Cheryl Hines and actor J.B. Smoove.
“You want to talk about the Rangers…” David says. “How about the way Breadman is playing the wing, controls that puck? It’s really amazing, isn’t it?”
David, also known for co-creating, writing, and producing the popular sitcom “Seinfeld,” is an avid fan of the Knicks and Rangers, and clearly of the Blueshirts’ three-time All-Star left wing.
David was even gifted a Stadium Series jersey in February for the back-to-back weekend event at MetLife Stadium.
“I’m a huge Ranger fan,” David said on “The Bill Simmons Podcast.” “I see entire games, I’ll tape them and then I watch them. … And if it’s too late then, I’ll just go through the tape for the goals.”
Panarin, 32, is in his fifth year with the Rangers and he earned his nickname of “Breadman” or “Bread” or “Yeast Mode” because of how closely the pronunciation of his last name sounds like the popular food chain, Panera Bread.
On March 26, Panarin hit 100 points for the first time in his nine-year NHL career after posting three assists in the Rangers’ 6-5 overtime victory over the Flyers.
This season, he has played in 74 of the Rangers’ games, tallying 44 goals and finding his teammates with 63 assists to total 107 points.
