Rumer Willis has ‘deep gratitude’ for support during dad Bruce’s dementia battle: Sharing the news was ‘a bit scary’

The world loves the Willis family.

Over one year after Bruce Willis’ loved ones came together to reveal that he was diagnosed with dementia, his eldest daughter Rumer Willis, revealed how much the support for her family has meant to her.

“I think it’s such a testament to my dad,” Rumer, 35, told The Post in an exclusive interview promoting her upcoming residency at Café Carlyle.

“And I think one of the most beautiful things … you know, whenever you’re sharing personal news with the world, it can always be a bit scary,” she added. “But I think what’s been so lovely is the amount of people that reach out and just come up to me and share how much they love my dad or what an impact or just sharing that they’re praying for us.”

Rumer continued: “I just have such deep gratitude for the love that comes our way.”

In March 2022, Bruce’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, his ex-wife, Demi Moore, and his five daughters released a joint statement informing the world that Bruce, 69, was retiring from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia.

In February 2023, they’d go on to reveal that his condition had worsened and that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.

“Bruce has always found joy in life — and has helped everyone he knows to do the same,” the blended family said in a statement at the time. “It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us.”

Rumer is one of Bruce’s daughters with Moore, 61. The exes were married from 1987 to 2000 and are also parents of Scout, 32, and Tallulah, 30. Bruce also has daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, with Heming Willis, 45. The couple have been married since 2009.

The “Dancing With the Stars” Season 20 champion told The Post that Bruce is “doing great” as his loved ones continue to rally around him.

Rumer also gushed over the bond that the “Die Hard” star has with her 1-year-old daughter, Louetta, who she had with her partner, singer Derek Richard Thomas.

“What’s lovely is my dad’s connection with my daughter is so beautiful and wonderful, and I feel so grateful for it,” she shared.

From June 4 to 8, Rumer is returning to the iconic Café Carlyle in New York City for her residency.

After stepping away from the spotlight to focus on motherhood and her family, Rumer said that she’s more ready than ever to perform for her fans.

“I feel like I’m such a different person,” she shared. “I’ve had so many different experiences and evolved so much, just with myself, that there’s almost no way for it not to be kind of unique and different and special.

“I think in a lot of ways becoming a mother and seeing the world change the way it has gives me a different perspective. I feel like a more grounded version of myself and more able to share from a deeper place.”

Rumer is also working on her debut album at the moment, and she has a few music stars in mind that she’d love to collaborate with one day.

“I would love to sing with Adele. I would shoot for the stars and say Beyoncé,” she said.

“Actually, I would love to make an album with Mark Ronson. I think the way that he produces and cultivates female talent is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. So to be able to make an album with him would be like the ultimate dream come true.”
