Patrick Mahomes — like any Mavericks fan — was feeling the pain of watching Celtics guard Payton Pritchard hit another absurd halfcourt shot in the NBA Finals.

With 0.8 seconds left in the first half, the Prichard connected on a 3-pointer buzzer-beater from halfcourt to put his team up 67-46 at the break at TD Garden on Monday night.

The Chiefs quarterback, a Texas native, had the perfect reaction to the shot, writing “Bro I hate this dude” with five laughing face emojis on X.

The dramatic shot sent the Celtics on their way to a 106-88 Game 5 win and the franchise’s record 18th NBA championship.

This wasn’t the Celtics point guard’s first impressive buzzer-beater in the Finals.

Pritchard also hit a long-range shot at the end of the third quarter in Game 2 when he was brought into the game with 3.3 seconds left.

He sank the 34-foot shot from the Finals logo, echoing a similar moment to Monday night’s play.

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla described it as the play of the game.

“I think the play of the game can’t go unnoticed, the humility of our team, is Payton’s shot at the end of the quarter,” Mazzulla said, per the Associated Press. “You see guys around the league pass up on that shot or fake like they want to take it, so that their numbers don’t get messed up. He takes pride in taking that, and that’s winning basketball.”

Less than a week after Mazzulla praised Pritchard, thanking him for taking the shot, the guard did it again. to become the first player in NBA Finals history to hit two 30-foot buzzer-beaters, according to Stathead.

Mahomes is not the only athlete impressed by Pritchard’s shot.

Several NBA stars — both past and present — also shared their reactions on social media.

“he really don’t be missing these,” Ja Morant wrote on X with a crying laughing and a fire emoji.
