My Chemical Romance spoke out after former drummer Bob Bryar died at 44 years old.

“The band asks for your patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob’s passing,” a spokesperson for the band said in a statement to Variety on Sunday.

Bryar was found dead inside his Tennessee home last Tuesday. He was last seen alive on November 4, TMZ reported.

Animal control was called to the home to remove two dogs after the former musician’s badly decomposed body was discovered.

Authorities don’t suspect foul play in Bryar’s death. His cause of death is still unknown.

Bryar was My Chemical Romance’s longest-tenured drummer.

He was originally a sound technician for The Used. He joined My Chemical Romance while the two bands were on tour in 2004, replacing original drummer Matt Pelissier.

The group’s members included Bryar, lead vocalist Gerard Way, lead guitarist Ray Toro, bass guitarist Mikey Way and rhythm guitarist Frank Iero.

“I left a very good touring gig where I was tour managing and doing sound. I left that job to join a band that was filthy, had shitty gear, a smashed-up, smoking, death-trap van and was poor. They smelled bad, too,” Bryar said in a 2016 interview with Alternative Press.

“I was so happy to receive the offer. Long before we recorded ‘Welcome to the Black Parade,’ I knew that [MCR] were special and I wanted in. I wanted to help evolve the band and be able to shred with them every night,” he added.

After the release of My Chemical Romance’s sophomore album “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge,” Bryar became the group’s permanent drummer.

Bryar parted ways with My Chemical Romance in March 2010; six years after he took over from Pelissier.

“This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly,” the band said at the time. “We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect you all to do the same.”

Following stints helping other bands on tour, Bryar retired from the music industry and turned to working in real estate, according to TMZ.

My Chemical Romance broke up in 2013, but they reunited in 2019 and then went on a years-long Reunion Tour that was postponed several times due to the pandemic.

On Nov. 12, My Chemical Romance announced their “Long Live” ten-city tour beginning in July 2025.
