Kelly Davis, the ex-wife of former LA Chargers linebacker Thomas Davis, cut a deal with prosecutors on Monday to close out the criminal case she was hit with stemming from allegations she beat up a woman she believed had hooked up with her former husband.
Kelly entered into a pre-trial diversion program, according to North Carolina court records, and agreed to complete a Cognitive Behavioral Intervention course, stay away from the alleged victim in the case, and pay $1,380 in restitution.
Her attorney, James J. Exum, told The California Post that if she completes all of the conditions of the program, her charges will be dismissed and her case will be disposed.
“It’s a very fair resolution for a good lady like her who has no criminal history,” Exum said.
Kelly was slapped with a misdemeanor assault and battery charge in August 2025 after she was accused of roughing up Laura Watterson, a woman who she thought had been sleeping with Thomas.
In a criminal affidavit, Watterson, a chiropractor, claimed Kelly showed up to her Charlotte office and punched her in the chest and hit her multiple times in the head.
“She was accusing me of being with her ex husband,” Watterson stated in the affidavit.
Following her arrest, Kelly insisted she acted in self-defense.
Kelly and Thomas married in March 2008, but separated in March 2024 after Kelly alleged he repeatedly cheated on her. Their divorce was finalized in December 2025, just a couple months after Kelly’s altercation with Watterson occurred.
Thomas — who played 15 years in the NFL and made three Pro Bowls — and Kelly are the parents of Notre Dame linebacker Thomas Davis Jr.
