Dave Chappelle just announced a short tour that will send him to arenas all over North America from late October through early November this year.
That includes a stop at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Friday, Nov. 6 as part of this year’s New York Comedy Festival.
“Dave is one of the defining comedians of his generation and, without question, one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time,” New York Comedy Festival Caroline Hirsch noted in a press release. “To have Dave close out his tour by opening our festival is spectacular.”
Other gigs on the 53-year-old funnyman’s calendar include Nashville (Oct. 20), Charlotte (Oct. 21), Louisville (Oct. 24), Austin (Oct. 26) and Houston (Oct. 28).
He’s also slated to take part in Mesa, AZ’s inaugural Fastball Comedy Festival, which goes down Oct. 17-18 and will feature fellow headliners Bill Burr, Tom Segura, Rachel Feinstein and Andrew Santino.
Prior to this upcoming outing, the “Half Baked” star last performed at this year’s Netflix Is A Joke Fest and went on a brief arena run in June. Before that, he teased a “Chappelle’s Show” revival where Eddie Murphy would fill in for his brother Charlie’s parts.
As fans are likely aware, Chappelle has become a bit of a cultural lightning rod after he started taking aim at the LGBTQ+ community onstage. However, as Sypher Sights notes in a review of a 2021 show, “he remains unfazed as he continues to go on tour and connect with his fans.”
Tickets officially go on sale to the general public on Thursday, Sept. 17 at noon local time through Ticketmaster but are available now on trusted secondary market sites like StubHub.

Why is Dave Chappelle controversial?
Since his 2016 return to stand-up following an extended hiatus, Chappelle has made waves for his insensitive material about the transgender community, most notably in his Netflix specials “Sticks and Stones” and “The Closer.”
Rather than apologize for his remarks, he doubled down and defended his bigoted point of view.
As a result, many big names have spoken out about his baseless attacks.
“Dave Chappelle making jokes about trans people directly leads to violence, whether it’s verbal or otherwise, against trans people,” said US soccer star Megan Rapinoe in an interview with Time Magazine.
Fellow comic Wanda Sykes shared with Variety that Chappelle’s material was “so hurtful and damaging to the trans community.”
That didn’t stop Chappelle from going after other marginalized groups.
In November 2022, Chappelle was asked to host NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” On the program, he made several anti-Semitic jokes in his 20-minute monologue.
At the time of publication, Chappelle has not issued a sincere apology to either community. His inflammatory material also caused Netflix employees to walk out in protest.
“We value our trans colleagues and allies, and understand the deep hurt that’s been caused,” a Netflix spokesperson said at the time. “We respect the decision of any employee who chooses to walk out, and recognize we have much more work to do both within Netflix and in our content.”
Most recently, Chappelle made waves for performing at the 2025 Riyadh Comedy Festival. His inclusion in the Saudi Arabia Fest upset some because he accepted money political leaders in the country who had committed human rights abuses and used the festival to “divert attention from ongoing repression.”
The Human Rights Watch organization said that comics who took part were “complicit in covering up the abuses of a repressive regime,” according to CBS News.
