Plenty of former Los Angeles Lakers players have shared great stories about Kobe Bryant as a teammate.
One story that former Lakers guard Nick Young shared during his appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast earlier this week paints Bryant in a completely new light.
“Kobe was cool, though. I remember, people don’t know, at the beginning of the season, Kobe [has], like, a party for the team to get together. [He’d] have a stripper party. Yeah. Like, a little stripper party,” Young said.
“But, he taught me a little bit of swag, cause he had a party—had the bottles, and the girls come. And then he’ll leave. Like, you just won’t see Kobe no more. He’ll be like, ‘Hey man… I got y’all a little something something.’ We go upstairs, we see the strippers and stuff. Then Kobe like, ‘Y’all have fun and leave out.’ I was like, ‘Man, thank you!’” he added.
Young’s comments make it sound like Bryant didn’t partake in the parties himself, instead creating them for his teammate before fleeing the scene.
Still, this adds a very interesting wrinkle to how the late Lakers legend is remembered by his teammates.
The Mamba is recognized as not only one of the greatest basketball players to ever grace the court, but also one of the most driven, focused players in history.
