Spike Lee reveals incident ‘in front of my house’ after ‘f–k Palestine’ altercation with Yankees fan

Spike Lee’s Yankees suite altercation was only glimpse into the outrage he’s encountered for his pro-Palestine views.

In a recent Q&A interview with Variety, the legendary filmmaker and New York sports fan admitted that he was and still is “getting a lot of hate mail and stuff.”

Prior to Game 2 of the wild-card series against the Red Sox, Lee was in Yankee Stadium’s Legends Suite when a fan approached him for a selfie and requested that Lee say “f–k Palestine.”

The 69-year-old grew furious and stood up to find security to address the fan, who was kicked out of the suite.

“Why’d you come over to me?” Lee shouted at an unidentified person while being restrained by staff.

A man in a blue sports coat could be seen pointing to a nearby table, telling the fan, “you’ve gotta go. You’ve gotta go.”

Lee continued to explain another incident that happened to him at his home.

“That lady [Lizzy Savetsky] who does a lot of Instagram stuff. She did something where she stood in front of my house, she was holding up an Israeli flag, went on a tirade and then stuffed an Israeli flag into my mailbox,” he said.

“It really is against the law when you mess with someone’s mail.”

Lee, who has always been an outspoken voice in Hollywood, is arguably the most notable New York sports fan.

So much so, he noted in the interview that he was the catalyst for off-beat Yankees gear.

The “Do The Right Thing” director explained he once bought a New Era Yankees jacket that featured a red stripe on it. Thus, he wanted a Yankees hat to coordinate with it.

“I called up New Era and they said, ‘We don’t do that,’” he said. “So, I got Steinbrenner on the phone. I told him what I wanted, he called New Era, and they made me a red Yankee hat… Before that, teams only had hats in their team colors. The red Yankee hat started everything!”

Lee was also a pivotal figure throughout the Knicks’ NBA championship run last season — a team he has been a season-ticket holder for since 1985.
