It’s the most wonderful sale of the year!
The cast of “A Christmas Story” is looking to buy themselves a familiar Christmas present.
The home from the 1983 holiday film classic hit the market this week, and some of the cast members are looking to snatch up the property.
“It only makes sense to have the cast run the show,” Yano Anaya, who played Grover Dill in the film, told TMZ.
Though Anaya wouldn’t share which co-stars are looking to pitch in, he believes keeping the house in the “Christmas Story” family would be great for the fans — and no one will have to worry what could possibly happen to the house if it’s bought by an outsider.
Anaya told TMZ that tens of thousands of fans have expressed their concerns about the house going up for sale in the “A Christmas Story Family” Facebook group.
The house, built in 1895, has been one of the ore popular tourist attractions in Cleveland, Ohio, and with the sequel to the original film dropping on HBO Max, fans of the beloved movie are expected to make their way back to the property.
The Ohio home became a designated landmark in Cleveland in 2006 and has opened its doors to more than a million guests since.
The current owner purchased the home that served as a sit in the film in 2004 from an eBay listing, renovated it and started giving tours to the public on Nov. 25, 2006. The owner also bought surrounding properties to make room for a museum, gift shop, parking lots and “The Bumpus House” next door, listing agent Chad Whitmer told TMZ, which is all up for sale.
The Museum is home to “the largest collection of original costumes, props, behind-the scenes photos and other items from the movie,” according to the home’s website. The detached garage to the home features a 1939 Ford LaFrance firetruck — just like the one in the movie.
In total, the sale includes five buildings, two public parking lots, one private parking lot and two empty lots spread across seven adjacent parcels.
While the listing price for the 1.3-acre lot is undisclosed, Whitmer — who has received hundreds of inquiries from potential buyers — expects it to go for 8 figures.
The sequel to the original holiday movie, “A Christmas Story Christmas,” stars Peter Billingsley reprising his iconic role of Ralphie Parker. Returning cast members also include Ian Petrella as Scut Farkus, Zack Ward as Flick and R.D. Robb as Schwartz.
“A Christmas Story Christmas,” set in the 1970s, follows Ralphie almost 40 years later as he returns to his hometown with his new family, trying to reconnect with his childhood after his father passed away.
“A Christmas Story Christmas” is currently available on HBO Max.
