Everyone’s trying to keep up with the Jones.
The Post exclusively revealed that Kim Cattrall, 66, will return as sultry publicist Samantha Jones in a cameo appearance on the “Sex and the City” spinoff “And Just Like That”
Showrunner Michael Patrick King discussed Cattrall’s homecoming in a new interview, but played coy about Samantha’s future.
“I wouldn’t even want you to know she was coming back this time, so I am not gonna say anything about Samantha in the future,” King told “Entertainment Tonight” on Tuesday.
The Post learned that Cattrall filmed a “cliffhanger” scene for the series’ sophomore season, which is set to premiere Thursday on Max (formerly known as HBO Max).
The scene was filmed in March in a town car in a parking garage near Silvercup Studios in Queens, where the show’s interiors are shot.
One source said Cattrall’s appearance was kept so “hush-hush” that her name didn’t even appear on the call sheet.
King admitted that he believes it may have been the 25th anniversary of the 1998 premiere of “Sex and the City” — which took place June 6 — that prompted Cattrall to come back.
He added that he always wanted to keep her character “alive,” despite her absence last season.
“Even to the point where Kim was finished playing her for a while I wanted to keep Samantha alive because she’s a big part of the ‘Sex and the City’ brand,” King explained.
“So here it is the 25th anniversary, and I guess magic happened,” he continued. “Some showbiz emotional fan magic happened where all of a sudden Kim is like, ‘All right, let’s show up for this special treat.’ And it was fun. I mean, it was always fun to write Samantha, and it was great to have the chance to take her from text to face.”
The Post reached out to Cattrall’s reps for comment.
“Sex and the City” ran for six seasons, until 2004.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis revived their roles last year for the first season of “And Just Like That.”
Cattrall did not return. Samantha had a falling out with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw and moved to London, only appearing by text message.
It’s unclear why Cattrall didn’t initially return — but tensions have run high between her and the rest of the cast, especially Parker, in the years since the second “Sex and the City” movie dropped, in 2010.
A third movie was discussed — but Cattrall’s reported “outrageous” demands allegedly shelved those plans.
Nevertheless, King appears to be excited for Cattrall’s cameo, which he detailed in an interview with People published Tuesday.
He called it a “lovely treat” for both the audience and the cast.
“It is nostalgic and emotional, and really, in my mind, they’ve been talking all the time,” he said.
