‘All the President’s Men’ and ‘All My Children’ star Nicolas Coster dead at 89

“All The President’s Men” and “All My Children” actor Nicolas Coster died on Monday at a Florida hospital.

He was 89.

His daughter Dinneen Coster shared the tragic news on Facebook, penning: “There is great sadness in my heart this evening, my father actor Nicolas Coster has passed on in Florida at 9:01 pm in the hospital.”

“Please be inspired by his artistic achievements and know he was a real actor’s actor,” she went on.

“I will always be inspired by him and know how lucky I am to have such a great father,” she wrote.

The British-American screen star’s cause of death has yet to be released.

Coster was born in London to a British mother and a father from New Zealand. He was then raised mostly in California.

However, he flew back to the United Kingdom when he was 16 to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, receiving his diploma in 1951.

He also studied acting under famed teacher Lee Strasberg in New York City.

Coster got his start with small TV bit parts in the 1950s and ’60s, taking on roles on shows like “No Time For Sergeants,” “Felony Squad,” “The Green Hornet” and “N.Y.P.D.”

His prolific career continued into the 1970s, when he found work in film.

In 1976, he scored the part of Markham in the Robert Redford drama, “All the President’s Men” and the 1979 western comedy “The Electric Horseman.”

Coster later earned a reputation for being a character actor, with appearances on “Charlie’s Angels,” “Little House on the Prairie,” “The Rockford Files” and “One Day at a Time.”

In the 1980s, Coster found fame with guest-starring roles on popular shows such as “Hart to Hart,” “Police Squad!,” “Knight Rider” and “L.A. Law.”

He also had a hefty tenure on a string of soap operas, including “Another World,” “All My Children,” “As the World Turns” and “Santa Barbara.”

“Santa Barbara” featured Coster playing rich family man Lionel Lockridge from 1984 to 1993 — and he earned four Daytime Emmy nominations.

However, he finally won a golden statuette for the Amazon soap “The Bay,” in 2017.

He also played kidnapper Steve Andrews on “All My Children” from 1988 until 1989 and portrayed David Warner, the dad of Blair Warner on the NBC series “The Facts of Life.”

Coster is also the father of daughter Candice Jr and son Ian, who died in 2016.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Pantel, whom he wedded in 1982.
