Ashley Brewer prepares for wedding to NBA player Frank Kaminsky days after ESPN layoff

Former “SportsCenter” anchor Ashley Brewer appears to be in good spirits after she was part of ESPN’s latest wave of layoffs last week.

Brewer, 31, who is married to NBA free-agent center Frank Kaminsky, is laughing her way to the altar, as the couple is set to tie the knot again in a wedding celebration in Mexico this weekend.

They officially said “I do” in April at a courthouse in Los Angeles, Kaminsky, 30, told The Wisconsin State Journal in a May 2023 profile.

The fairly private couple was heard laughing in a video Brewer shared Sunday on social media, where Kaminsky jokingly practiced his reception speech in a variety of accents.

“Wedding planning with Frank pt. 2,” Brewer wrote over the clip, adding in her caption: “5 days away, pray for us! Or… pray for Frank 😅😂.”

The couple, who met in New York in 2017, are celebrating a year after Kaminsky proposed in Maui last summer.

The wedding celebration comes at a tough time for Brewer.

On Friday, the former collegiate swimmer at Texas and Southern Cal was laid off at ESPN, which let go a number of top veteran talent — including Jalen Rose, Suzy Kolber, Jeff Van Gundy, Keyshawn Johnson and Max Kellerman.

Brewer celebrated her third anniversary at ESPN in March.

The Post’s Andrew Marchand was the first to report the news of the layoffs, noting ESPN informed its employees Friday morning of the impending cuts on an internal website.

Brewer had been at the “SportsCenter” desk since September 2020, and previously served as a host for “SportsNation” and co-host of the Sunday night edition of “GameNight” on ESPN Radio.

“I am so grateful for my time at ESPN and the opportunity to host SportsCenter,” she wrote on Twitter after news of the layoffs broke. “I learned and grew so much as a broadcaster and person.

“I will really miss all of the wonderful friends I made along the way. I know God has a plan for my life and I look forward to what’s next.”

In a separate tweet, Brewer wrote: “What’s next: my wedding is in one week!”

Brewer made light of the situation in a TikTok video that featured the text, “When ESPN lays you off the week before your wedding.”

She wrote in her caption: “Laugh so we don’t cry,” with the hashtags, “unemployed,” and “stay at home wife.”

Kaminsky gushed over Brewer to The Wisconsin State Journal in May, stating in part, “We’re just perfect for each other, and we both know it.”

The veteran big man, who’s dealt with injuries the past four seasons, is a free agent again.

Kaminsky signed a one-year, $2.4 million deal with the Hawks last season, following a three-year stint in Phoenix.

He appeared in only nine games during the 2021-22 season and 36 this past season, which was split between Atlanta and Houston.

When asked about a career pivot to broadcasting, Kaminsky explained that he’s not ready to pursue that path just yet.

“I can’t prepare for what’s next, while I’m in what’s happening now,” he said.

This is the first offseason since the summer of 2019 that Kaminsky is healthy and won’t be rehabbing an injury.
