Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid has revealed that he’s known Taylor Swift for years — and it wasn’t the news Travis Kelce wanted to hear.
Reid, who boasts three Super Bowl wins as a coach, revealed how he and the 12-time Grammy winner go way back during an appearance on the “Let’s Go!” podcast with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gary.
When asked how it’s been for the Chiefs to have a newfound fanbase thanks to the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker, Reid admitted that it’s been a wild ride.
“Yeah, listen, she’s been great,” he said of Swift, 34, before revealing how their paths first crossed.
“I knew her before, from Philadelphia. Her dad [Scott Swift] played at [University of] Delaware and was a big football fan and good guy,” he shared. “So I had met him there and her.”
Reid admitted that Kelce, 34, wasn’t too pleased to learn that he wasn’t the first Chiefs member to meet her.
“So that was the last thing Trav wanted to hear, that I knew her before him,” he shared. “She told him, ‘I know your coach.’ And he went, ‘Oh, God, come on!’”
“She’s a good girl. And I’m happy for Trav,” Reid added. “And there has been no distraction that way at all.”
“Trav’s handled it right, she’s handled it right and we just move forward,” he added. “So it hasn’t been a problem at all.”
Reid’s comments come after the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 in the AFC Championship game Sunday.
Swift watched the football action alongside her BFFs Brittany Mahomes, Keleigh Sperry, and Cara Delevingne from a VIP suite at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
After her beau’s major win that advanced the Chiefs to the Super Bowl, Swift was pictured celebrating with Travis’ family, including his dad Ed, mom Donna, and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason.
While the “Cardigan” singer was pictured with a handful of famous faces at the game, her most notable celebration was with Travis.
Cameras caught the lovebirds sharing a sweet kiss on the field after the big win before declaring their love for each other.
It remains to be seen if Swift will attend next month’s Super Bowl at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas as she resumes the international leg of her blockbuster Eras Tour in early February.
Swift has performances scheduled in Tokyo from Feb. 7, through Feb. 10 — one day before Super Bowl LVIII gets underway on Sunday, Feb. 11.
The pop star will be on tour for much of 2024, taking the Eras Tour to Australia, Singapore, and Europe in the first half of the year, before heading to Canada in the fall.
