Chris Redd claims bloody sucker-punch attack wasn’t random: ‘It was planned’

Chris Redd doesn’t believe his “random” attack was actually random at all.

The “Saturday Night Live” alum, 37, reflected on the unprovoked assault in New York City that left him with facial fractures in a Tuesday appearance on SiriusXM’s “The Bennington Show.”

In the interview, Redd joked that news of the October incident “did wonders” for promotion of his HBO Max special “Why Am I Like This?”

“No promotion was better than getting knocked in the f—–g face,” Redd argued. “People didn’t even know I had a special out, and they were like, ‘Aw, hope he’s OK! What special?’”

He added that he’ll “probably release the footage” of the bloody act “and do a voice-over thing.”

Jokes aside, the Emmy-winning funnyman has suspicions about the one-sided altercation.

The “Kenan” actor was dropped off at the Comedy Cellar on Oct. 26 to perform a set when a man dressed as a security guard decked him “out of nowhere” on MacDougal Street, according to cops and sources.

“There was blood everywhere,” a source told Page Six at the time.

The suspect ran off before police arrived, but the attack was believed to have been caught on surveillance footage. No arrests have been made.

“I’m going to say, it was a planned situation. That’s what I feel in my heart and soul. That’s what I saw on the footage,” Redd revealed.

“People called it a random attack. I don’t believe that,” he explained. “He waited for me an hour before I got there. He was on the phone, he had a lookout dude and everything. All I’m saying is this, I’ve never done nothing random where it took me an hour to do it. I’ve never just randomly did a thing that took a build-up. That’s not what ‘random’ is.

Redd’s comedy special, “Why Am I Like This?,” premiered last month. He departed “SNL” in September as part of a large exodus of big names.

“Being part of ‘SNL’ has been the experience of a lifetime,” Redd said in a statement shared on social media at the time. “Five years ago, I walked into 30 Rock knowing that this was an amazing opportunity for growth.

“Now, with friends who have become family and memories I will cherish forever, I’m grateful to Lorne Michaels and to the entire ‘SNL’ organization. From the bottom of my heart, I can’t thank you all enough.”
